Meet the coders that are helping MiRo to become a better robot

We all have an innate desire to help others, be it helping someone cross the road, giving directions or being a shoulder to cry on. How do you like to personally help others? How about throwing a social robot into the mix and training MiRo to help people?

We’re delighted to introduce the teams and individuals from continents all over the world that are eagerly working on training MiRo with a new function so that it can help people. Our willing coders are from a variety of different grade levels so we can’t wait to see how they will use their creative thinking to programme MiRo to help others. Want to help MiRo become a better robot? Then don’t miss out and join the group of coders and programmers below to be in with your chance to win a MiRo-E robot! Competition submissions are open until September 30, 2020 at 12:00 Midnight (24:00 GMT/UTC).

We are confident that these bright young minds will be able to programme MiRo with an exciting and practical skill so that it can help people where they need it the most. Perhaps the skill or behaviour has never been considered by anyone else? Or perhaps it is a common behaviour but it has never been developed on a social robot? Either way, our judges can’t wait to see some of the ideas and they will be looking at how MiRo will solve the problem based on:

  • Originality

  • Excitement

  • Effectiveness

  • Efficiency

If you’re not sure where to begin, you can get your creative juices flowing by asking your neighbours, speaking to a family member or friend for a challenge, situation, or problem that they have faced and think about how MiRo can be part of the solution.
